Welcome to the The Positive Growth Doctor Podcast®! I am your host, Dr. Christina Wilson.
I often hear women say that no one is harder on them than they are. In episode 14, we explored why that is based on neuroscience.
When women start analyzing a situation and their response to it or a situation that spiraled out of their control, it impacts their inner peace and shapes their beliefs about themselves and shakes their confidence.
In this episode, we explore how mindset and limiting beliefs intersect to create a recipe for disaster and the 6 serious consequences associated with that. I give you 10 strategies to prevent or stop the spiral of limiting your potential.

6 Serious Consequences of a Fixed Mindset and Limiting Beliefs for Women
Fixed mindset is a belief that ability and intelligence is static and cannot be developed.
Limiting beliefs are self-imposed constraints on what one thinks they can achieve.
1) Stagnation in Growth: A combination of a fixed mindset and limiting beliefs can lead to a lack of motivation to pursue new challenges or opportunities for growth because you get stuck in those negative thought loops.
2) Fear of Failure: Individuals with a fixed mindset often fear failure because they see it as a reflection of their inherent abilities.
Limiting beliefs can exacerbate this fear, leading to avoidance of situations where there is a risk of not succeeding.
This fear can prevent individuals from taking necessary risks that could lead to personal and professional development.
3) Reduced Resilience: When faced with setbacks, a person with a fixed mindset may feel defeated and unable to recover, as they believe their abilities are unchangeable.
Limiting beliefs can reinforce this by creating a narrative that they are not capable of overcoming challenges, leading to decreased resilience and persistence.
4) Limited Potential: The combination of a fixed mindset and limiting beliefs can prevent individuals from realizing their full potential.
They may avoid learning new skills or pursuing passions because they believe they are not naturally talented in those areas, thereby limiting their achievements and satisfaction.
In Positive Psychology, we recognize that we have innate strengths. We build on those strengths to grow and achieve.
5) Negative Impact on Relationships: In a professional setting, a fixed mindset can lead to a reluctance to collaborate or accept feedback, as individuals may perceive it as criticism of their abilities.
Limiting beliefs can further hinder relationship-building by fostering a belief that one is not worthy of success or recognition, leading to difficulties in networking and forming meaningful connections.
6) Lack of Innovation: In a business context, a fixed mindset can stifle creativity and innovation.
When leaders or team members hold limiting beliefs about what is possible, it can prevent the exploration of new ideas and solutions, hindering the organization's growth and adaptability.
10 Powerful Strategies to Fostering Growth and Squashing Negative Influences
I’ve given you the consequences for staying fixed and swimming in ongoing negative thought loops based on limiting beliefs.
Preventing a fixed mindset and limiting beliefs involves cultivating a growth mindset and actively challenging negative self-perceptions.
These come from my transformation model, The Confidently Balanced Framework, which helps women through my 4 R’s: Release, Reframe, Rebuild, and Rise.
Quick reminder that we start a challenge every Sunday on The Positive Growth Doctor’s social media channels.
Follow and check that out. I guide you in this every day of the week. It is a great way to promote growth.
Let’s talk about 10 strategies to help help you grow:
1) Embrace Challenges: View challenges as growth opportunities to learn and grow rather than threats.
Approach new tasks with curiosity and a willingness to learn, even if it means stepping out of your comfort zone.
Psalm 119: 1-7 addresses this and encourages us to learn from our mistakes.
When women hold on to them and analyze them repeatedly, we’re not letting go. When we give it to God and receive His grace, that is a powerful way to move on from them. But action is essential.
The action I am referring to is learning and growing from those situations rather than giving the mistakes so much power that we hold onto them and wallowing in them.
2) Reframe Negative Thoughts: When you catch yourself thinking about limiting beliefs like "I can't do this" or "I'm not good enough," reframe them into positive affirmations such as "I can learn how to do this" or "I am capable of improving."
What you tell yourself matters.
3) Celebrate Effort, Not Just Results: Focus on the effort and process rather than just the outcome.
Recognize and reward yourself for the hard work and dedication you put into tasks, regardless of the result.
4) Learn from Criticism: Instead of viewing feedback as a personal attack, see it as valuable information that can help you improve.
Use criticism constructively to identify areas for growth and development.
5) Surround Yourself with Growth-Oriented People: Engage with individuals who encourage a growth mindset and challenge you to think differently.
Being around positive influences can help reinforce your belief in the potential for growth.
This is why I developed the Women’s Empowerment Facebook Group. I included the link in the transcript.

6) Set Incremental Goals: Break down larger goals into smaller, manageable steps.
Achieving these smaller milestones can build confidence and momentum, gradually shifting your mindset towards growth.
7) Practice Self-Compassion: Be kind to yourself when you encounter setbacks or failures.
Understand that mistakes are part of the learning process and do not define your abilities or worth.
8) Visualize Success: Regularly visualize yourself achieving your goals and overcoming obstacles.
Seeing it is believing it!
This mental practice can help reinforce a positive mindset and reduce the power of limiting beliefs.
9) Continuous Learning: Commit to lifelong learning by seeking out new skills and knowledge.
This is why I have a new weekly challenge on social media that starts every Sunday to guide you. So follow me on social media to learn more.
This can help reinforce the idea that abilities can be developed and expanded over time.
10) Reflect on Past Successes: Take time to reflect on past achievements and the progress you've made.
Recognizing your growth can help counteract limiting beliefs and reinforce the potential for further development.
If you are having trouble with this, ask someone who knows you well and supports you.
When you implement these strategies, you foster a growth mindset and diminish the influence of limiting beliefs, paving the way for personal and professional success. YOU DESERVE THIS!
I hope this helps! I love your heart and am thankful you are here to pour into yourself.
Let's meet up again next week for another episode.
